Meet Sundari Karma Prasad, an eclectic spirit who wears many hats—model, actress, makeup artist, and writer—recognized by her nom de plume, Aurelalia Nelson. Sun had her start as a child—writing stories and poetry for POPCORN MAGAZINE, getting published in the Richmond Times Dispatch in “Tell Me Why," writing for Young Virginians in the same paper, and attending the only VCU Urban Journalism Workshop.
She has written for several magazines since: Natural Awakenings, RVA magazine. Sundari turned a short-lived career in stripping into a riveting journey in journalism, partly attributed to her uncanny resemblance to Heather Hunter. The magazine loved her work so much that they copyrighted not just it but even her image from way back in 1973.
She used to be the roving reporter for Hustler Magazine, underpaid and underappreciated, traveling the country as a dime on a dime, scouring for vibrant events and hoity adventures for Larry Flynt’s flagship.
Also known as ‘The Internet Bitch’ for her saucy online alter ego, Sun Karma, she was crowned ‘The Queen of RVA’. Her passion led her to start the entrepreneurial ventures 'India Essence', ‘Karma Kola', and ‘CexCells'.
With a portfolio of 16 books and counting, she made waves with her award-winning book "Absinthe," and her latest poetic anthology, "Paper Dollz," reveals glimpses of her vibrant inner world.
Holding a master's degree in psychology (and a looming PhD), Sundari delves into the challenges of mental disorders like schizophrenia in a bid to unravel their complexities. Her canvas extends beyond academia to touch the artisanal spheres of sculpting and painting.
Her passion brims over into altruistic paths such as spearheading breast cancer awareness campaigns, empowering women initiatives, and advocating for animal rights. When she removes these many hats at the end of the day, Sundari spins joyously on roller skates or hula hoops while mysteriously increasing her cat collection. Join her on this journey of expression, exploration, and empowerment.
